Breed Council membership is always limited to Kennel Club registered breed societies, individual membership not being an option.

The Kennel Club currently recognise fifteen specialist Collie Breed Societies, either Single Breed or Sub-Group (see information panel on right) each of which are eligible for membership of the Rough Collie Breed Council.

Currently only the Smooth Collie Club of Great Britain, which although technically a Sub-Group society generally consider themselves responsible for Smooth Collie affairs only, is not a member.

In the pages that follow you will discover a little about the history of each of the fourteen member clubs, listed below, including their base area, followed by contact details, and an annual events calendar.

KC Terminology

SINGLE BREED:

In Kennel Club terms a Single Breed Society is a specialist society which caters for a single breed or variety of breed.

SUB-GROUP:

Sub-Group Societies are those catering for more than one variety of a single breed. In Collies any breed society scheduling classes for both Rough and Smooth coats are considered a Sub-Group Society.
