New material donated during the year includes:
Audrey Chatfield ‘Dunsinane’ has donated a large collection of marked Catalogues covering the year 1960 to 2000 and including an almost complete set of Yorkshire Collie Club show catalogues for this period.
A full set of Round Ups donated by Peter Chave and the West of England Collie Society.
Both of these physical collections, from which relevant material will be archived as time permits, are featured independently, as are the three pages from nineteenth century copies of Illustrated London News I acquired during the year.
After the feverish activity during the last quarter of 2007, 2008 was a comparatively quite year for donations, which gave me time to work on existing submissions together with a degree of personal work and private commissions.

May 2008 brought an
interesting enquiry
from Rowena Jay,
photographer and
driving
force behind
the Alphington Local
History Group, who
was looking for material
she
could include in a
forthcoming exhibition
of ‘People from
Alphington’ which was
to
be part on the Exeter
Autumn Festival.
The Rough Collie Archive was not only
able to supply copies of some of the
material
we hold on the Alphington
Kennel, but we were also able to provide
a great deal of
background material on
the kennel and its influence, and, as can
be seen here, this
was sufficient to fill
three exhibition boards becoming a
focal point of the exhibition
with its
accompanying lecture given by Rowena.
Additionally a page giving brief details
about the Alphington Kennel together
with
a link to the Rough Collie Breed Council web-site has been added to the Alphington
Local History Group ‘Living Here’ web-site
Two of the exhibition boards used to display items supplied by the Rough Collie National Archive to the Alphington Local History Group and used as part of their Alphington People exhibition in November 2008 which was itself part of Exeter’s Autumn Festival
