It has to be acknowledged that the National Rough Collie Archive got off to a slow start, but has, in the latter half of 2007 become more attractive to many more.
The collection currently includes:
Iris Combe ‘Tilehouse’ — large collection of early Rough Collie memorabilia, this is a physical collection and has yet to be properly catalogued.
Angela Harvey ‘Wicani’ — large collection of early Kennel Gazettes and pre-
Gayle Kaye ‘Chelsea’ — Archivist to the Collie Club of America — collection of private correspondence from Mrs Nadine George ‘Beulah’ to Mrs Christie ‘Saint Ardian’ USA, plus a small collection of Kennel advertisements taken from Christmas Annuals from the early 1920s to the mid 1940s — this is a physical collection no longer required by the Collie Club of America.
London and Provincial Collie Club — a copy of their centenary handbook, this a physical copy currently sitting on my shelves, and correctly labelled as the Property of the National Rough Collie Archive.
The Collie Association — Miss Margaret Osborne’s photographic collection originally donated to the Collie Association by Miss Kathy Green ‘Abbeywater’

Two images typical of the kind of material sent for to me for identification:
Caractacus – this illustration, thought to be by R. H. Moore, appeared in the Fanciers’
Gazette, December 7th 1888.
To my knowledge this is the
only illustration of Caractacus
a big winner during his life.
A little known illustration by the American artist Charles Robert Knight which appeared in the ‘The Century Illustrated Magazine’ – 1908.
The painting originally commissioned by John Pierpont Morgan, financier, Collie Fancier, and early supporter of the Collie Club of America.
The Collie in the foreground is thought to be Wishaw Clinker whom Pierpont-
Mr R Tait. We would welcome any suggestions about
the identity of the Collie in the background
Further collections include:
Northumberland and Durham Collie Club’s detailed history compiled by
Mr Alan Mather.
Alphington Scrapbooks and early Our Dogs donated by Joan Parker.
Mary Stevens’ ‘Boughlee’ collection of Kennel Advertisements from Christmas Supplements and Annuals
and these are all featured independently on the following pages.
In addition I have donated my own computerised records together with scrapbook material collected over the more than thirty years I have been involved with Rough Collies, however I exclude the many books in my collection unless it outlives me.
